Sandra is a passionate environmentalist, architect, urbanist, educator, and mentor who has lived and worked across the GCC for almost 30 years. She leads tangram architects award-winning regional design studio, described over a decade ago as “a practice that pushes the boundaries of design, with sustainability at its’ core”. Currently in embracing the ongoing MedTech innovation and enhancing a new digital identity for our clients, to deliver our award-winning Hospital of the Future Programme, Sandra recently founded tangramMETA, our innovation and advanced technology group. Formed to harness the potential of digital and virtual technologies as an exponent of environmentally conscious sustainable design to deliver the paradigm shift that democratizes healthcare delivery. For which Sandra was recently recognized as a “Pioneer in Sustainability and Climate Tech.” in the UAE.

Tangram, have worked to deliver social and critical infrastructure projects across KSA since 1990, and are the recipient of many notable accolades, including six international sustainable design awards for five different projects over a period of just four years, and, in 2019, were recognised as the “Middle East Architecture Firm of the Year”, by Middle East Economic Digest.  

Outside of architectural practice, Sandra engages in writing, publishing, teaching, presenting, and advocating for sustainable design and urbanism across the region, whilst, working to mentor, sponsor, support and promote women in the industry.

Sandra is an elected member of the RIBA Gulf Chapter’s Senior Leadership Team, who work to promote contextually meaningful architectural best practice and education across the region.
